Reports to: Manager, Driver Training and Development

Travel: Regional, up to 25%

Description:
  • Oversee the processes associated with driver orientation and periodic training initiatives
  • Assist with developing and implementing critical safety and compliance initiatives primarily through the execution of orientation and related onboarding training
  • Deliver an orientation presentation that is cohesive, targets our core operational and safety policies, and emphasizes our safety values and commitment to defensive driving
  • Assist with activities involving the finishing training and job education for newly-hired, first-time truck drivers, including evaluations for upgrades
  • Promote compliance with Federal and State safety and driving regulations through training, mentoring and corrective action counseling of drivers
  • Communicates with drivers regarding core safety principles and accident avoidance both in the workplace and over the road. Monitor driver performance through yard observations and road tests.
  • Work with local accounts to provide occasional road evaluations and upgrade road tests
Requirements:
  • Thorough knowledge of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety and Hazardous Materials Regulations.
  • At least one year in a formal training position with public speaking
  • Current Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills necessary
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to handle diverse customers both externally and internally.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management
  • Class A CDL with minimum two years driving experience
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
